Celebrate 4th of July with us at Recreation Park! Our Annual 4th of July Event on Friday, July 4th includes daytime events from 10:00am-3:00pm and evening events from 5:00pm-9:00pm. The fireworks show will start at 9:00pm following the evening event. The streets will be closed around the park to allow you to safely enjoy all the festivities we have planned!
Daytime events will include a group of contests like hula hoop, a water balloon toss, a watermelon eating contest presented by Rotary Club, and a pie eating contest presented by Kiwanis Club. There will also be races consisting of a 3-legged sack race, toddler and youth races, and a diaper derby for crawlers. Below is the daytime events schedule:
Diaper Derby for Crawlers: 10:15am - 10:25am
Toddler & Youth Races: 10:30am - 10:45am
3 - Legged Sack Races: 10:45am - 11:25am
Lunch Break: 11:30am - 12:15pm
Watermelon Eating Contest (Sponsored by Rotary Club): 12:15PM - 12:45PM
Pie Eating Contest (Sponsored by Kiwanis Club): 1:00pm - 1:30pm
Water Balloon Toss: 1:30pm - 2:00pm
Hula Hoop Contest for Youth & Adults: 2:00pm - 2:30pm
Evening events will include live music, food booths, and the fireworks! Stevenson and Softball Field entry begins at 5:00pm. Softball Field blanket seating opens at 8:00am to 9:00am.
Wristbands are available at the Joslyn Center, Checkout Building, and Clubhouse in Recreation Park NOW through July 3rd. El Segundo Residents can receive a maximum of 4 free wristbands per adult with an updated 2025 Rec ID Card. Non-Residents or those without Rec ID Cards can purchase wristbands at $5 apiece. Wristbands are required for entry to Softball and Stevenson Fields during evening events — entry is free for children under 2. General admission wristbands may be purchased on the day of the event for $5.
Visit the registration link in our bio or call us at 310-524-2362 to check the status of your Rec ID. Rec ID cards may only be purchased or renewed in-person at the Clubhouse, Checkout Building, Joslyn Center, or Aquatics Center. If you are planning to purchase or renew your Rec ID, please bring two forms of identification that show an El Segundo residency (for example, a driver’s license and utility bill).
