LAX Roadway Construction - August 2026

Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) announced construction work requiring lane restrictions and closures around Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

Century Blvd.

  • Ongoing: Nighttime work in landscape area south of Century Blvd and within Century Blvd medians for pylon removal. Pending approval, pylon removal within the center median between Jetway Blvd. and Aviation Blvd. is tentatively scheduled to begin Aug. 4 and will take approximately 3 months to complete.
  • Ongoing: Nighttime bridge construction between Vicksburg Ave. and Jetway Blvd. within the center median and along the south side of Century Blvd. behind K-rail.
  • Ongoing: Daytime work within lot south of Century Blvd. between Sepulveda Blvd. and Vicksburg Ave. for bridge construction, pavement restoration, and more.
  • Pending approval, a westbound closure of Century Blvd. is expected between Jetway Blvd. and Vicksburg Ave. for electrical infrastructure work in late August. This work will also require a closure of the sidewalk on northern Century Blvd., just east of Vicksburg Ave. More details will be provided as plans are confirmed.
  • Pending approval, pylon removal within the center median of Century Blvd, between Jetway Blvd and Aviation Blvd, is tentatively scheduled to begin August 10 and will take approximately 3 months to complete.

Sepulveda Blvd.

  • Aug. 10 - 14 - A southbound lane closure and west side sidewalk closure is expected near the Westbound Century Crossover. Pedestrians will be rerouted through the CTA.
  • Ongoing: Daytime and nighttime work on the northeast and northwest corners of Sepulveda Blvd. and Century Blvd. for column structures and concrete pours for the new Sepulveda Pedestrian Bridge. Concrete work on the northwest corner is expected week of Aug. 24.
  • July 30 – late August: Nighttime work within additional lane closures at the southwest corner of Sepulveda Blvd. and Century Blvd. for fire hydrant installation.
  • Aug. 10 – 14: Daytime work within additional lane restrictions of curbside lane and west side sidewalk closure near the Westbound Century Crossover to prepare site for demolition of bridge structures.
  • Aug. 26 - Sept. 4: Nighttime work within additional lane closures within the Westbound Century Crossover to relocate telecommunications utilities. 

98th St.

  • Ongoing: Daytime work within lots north of 98th St. between Sepulveda Blvd. and Jetway Blvd. for concrete bridge structure work, including CIDH installation. Nighttime work is scheduled through mid-August.
  • Pending date confirmation, a full overnight closure of 98th St. between Jetway Blvd and Vicksburg Ave is scheduled to take place to transport equipment for future bridge construction.

Jetway Blvd.

  • Ongoing – August: Daytime work within lots east of Jetway Blvd. between 96th St. and Century Blvd. for concrete bridge structure work, including CIDH** installation. Concrete pours are tentatively scheduled periodically through August.
  • August 21 & 22: Nighttime work to implement a new traffic configuration between 96th St and Century Blvd. Activities include k-rail, traffic striping, and traffic loop installation. The new traffic configuration will remove existing lanes along Jetway Blvd; throughway traffic and access to surrounding properties will be maintained for the duration of the new configuration. 
  • Pending approval, a new traffic configuration on Jetway Blvd. between 96th St. and Century Blvd. is anticipated to be implemented in late August. Additional details will be provided as they are confirmed.
  • A temporary full closure of Jetway Blvd. is anticipated in mid-August to prepare the sites surrounding Jetway Blvd. for future bridge construction. More details will be provided as work plans develop.

World Way

  • Ongoing: Nighttime work within the CTA near the Admin East building to relocate and install water utilities. This work will require nightly closures of the loop surrounding the Admin East building.
  • Ongoing – mid-August: Daytime work within lane closures surrounding the CTA to demolish an existing retaining wall and prep area for new traffic implementation anticipated at the end of July. This updated traffic configuration will be in place for approximately one year.

Project-wide

  • Ongoing: Various preconstruction and concrete work, pavement restoration, installation of CIDH** piles, framework construction, and more.
  • Ongoing: Utility relocation and installation, installation of CIDH piles, concrete preparation work for future 96th St. pedestrian bridge and traffic bridges within and near the 96th St. closure.

*Schedules are subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.
**CIDH: Cast-In-Drilled-Hole: concrete and steel foundations for support columns; installation involves pothole drilling, slot trenching, and concrete pours.
