Submitting planning applications just became easier in the the City of El Segundo.
The City's new online planning application form dynamically adapts to the user in real time to drastically simplify the local development process. Built in partnership with Infilla, a government technology platform making land use entitlements and planning permits predictable, this interactive, intelligent application represents a major technological milestone as the first of its kind in municipal planning.
Applications All in One Place
Starting June 1, residents, businesses, and property owners can submit the following planning applications (entitlements) entirely online, replacing the legacy paper-based process:
- Administrative Use Permits (AUP)
- Conditional Use Permits (CUP)
- Adjustments (ADJ)
- Coastal Development Permits (CDP)
- Wireless Communications Facilities Permits (Major and Minor)
- Variances, zone changes, general plan amendments, and related exceptions
An Easier Way to Apply
The new form walks applicants through a step-by-step process tailored to their specific project, asking only the questions relevant to each project type with property information automatically pulled from the City's parcel data based on the applicant's address.
Upon submission, applicants receive immediate email confirmation along with clear next steps.
The application form is part of a broader partnership between the City and Infilla, which also powers the Community Development Department’s FAQs page, a public resource where residents can ask questions and find information about zoning, building codes, and permitting.
