On March 4, 2026 the City's websites are getting fresh addresses!
The City of El Segundo website, as well as the following websites, are migrating from .org to .gov.
The .gov domain is reserved for official U.S. government entities. All cities and municipalities in the U.S. are required to make this change by 2029 with the goal of improving trust, security, and transparency in digital services. It provides clear identification of official city websites and enhanced protection against fraudulent sites and phishing attempts.
The federal government requires thorough authentication before approving .gov domain requests, helping the public easily recognize that they are accessing a trusted and secure government website.
Don't worry if you do happen to visit the old URL after the switch - all existing .org links will continue to work and will automatically redirect to the new .gov domain, ensuring a smooth transition for all users.
Please note that the City's tourism and hospitality website, www.destinationelsegundo.com, and the economic development website, www.elsegundobusiness.com, will both remain .com domains.
