Over the past few months, the City of El Segundo has been working on permanent repairs to the heating systems of the El Segundo Wiseburn School District Aquatics Center's main and competition pools. The facility is used by students from Wiseburn and El Segundo high schools, the City’s Recreation and Parks Department, local swim clubs and the public. 

During the November 5, 2024, City Council meeting, Council Members directed staff to make the necessary repairs to the state-of-the-art facility. The complex boasts an Olympic-style, 10-lane, competitive lap pool and a four-lane teaching pool. It also includes stadium seating, high-tech scoreboards and a public address system for competitive events. The proposed work consists of new boilers and heat-exchanger units for both the main and competition pools. The existing electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems must also be modified as part of the construction work.

The major repair work will take approximately eight weeks to complete. Both pools will be closed during the construction, which is scheduled to begin in July 2025 and conclude at the end of August 2025.
