Prominent sculptor Eugene Daub will present a FREE program about the historical artworks he has produced and will sign copies of his new book Eugene Daub: Portraits, Medals, and Monuments, which will be available for purchase, at the El Segundo Public Library on Thursday, June 11 from 5:30-7 pm. A few of his most recognizable works include the Rosa Parks statue in the National Statuary Hall in the United States Capitol, Corps of Discovery, a commemoration of the Lewis and Clark expedition, located on a promontory overlooking the confluence of the Missouri and Kansas, and the University of Virginia’s monument of its founder Thomas Jefferson. More locally, there is Japantown, a commemoration of internments of California’s people of Japanese descent during World War II, Phineas Banning, father of the Port of Los Angeles in Wilmington, and A National Salute to Bob Hope and the Military, near San Diego’s waterfront.
